Union's Eric Ayuk set for U-20 team
CHESTER, Pa. -- Philadelphia Union midfielder Eric Ayuk has been called by Cameroonís U-20 team for a game against Sudan, scheduled March 2.
Ayuk, who turns 20 Friday, became the second youngest player to score a goal in Union history, in Columbus on April 25, 2015 at 18 years, 67 days. Ayuk is the youngest Union player to complete a game (May 2, 2015 vs. Toronto FC) and record an assist (April 11, 2015 vs. NYCFC). Ayuk has played 28 games (14 starts) and totaled two goals and two assists for the Union.
Ayuk played a key role in the Unionís run to the 2015 U.S. Open Cup final, scoring two goals as the Union were playing a man down. Ayuk equalized in the 55th minute of a 2-1 win over against D.C. United in the Round of 16 and put the Union ahead, 1-0, in the 56th minute of a penalty kicks win over the New York Red Bulls.
Ayuk scored three goals in 17 appearances with spent time with Union USL affiliate Bethlehem Steel FC and started once for the Union, in the regular-season finale against the Red Bulls.
