Hertzog scores twice as Pittsburgh extends streak

PITTSBURGH -- Corey Hertzog scored twice as the Pittsburgh Riverhounds remained unbeaten in the preseason with a 3-0 win over the University of Akron at Highmark Stadium Saturday.

Hertzog set up the first goal, finding Marshall Hollingsworth, who finished past Ben Lundt from 12 yards in the 53rd minute. Hertzog scored from inside the penalty area in the 57th minute and on a 67th-minute penalty kick after Dan Bedoya had been fouled.

Hollingsworth and Ben Swanson played on loan from the Columbus Crew. Trialist defender Rich Balchan, formerly of the Ottawa Fury, started for the Riverhounds (2-0-1).
