Riverhounds re-sign Ghanaian midfielder

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds have re-signed Ghanaian midfielder Stephen Okai to a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

Okai, 27, who has totaled one goal and four assists in 46 games in two seasons for the Riverhounds, scored in a 4-1 road win over Wilmington Hammerheads FC in July.

“Stephen is a very accomplished, very skillful, very strong player that we knew we wanted back from the start of the offseason,” Riverhounds coach Dave Brandt said. “Now that it is officially done, we’re certainly happy and excited to have him back for 2017.”

Okai, a native of Accra, played for the Charlotte Eagles and Orange County Blues FC, totaled six goals in 50 mathes, after being selected by the Philadelphia Union in the 2013 MLS draft.
