Queretaro 1, Leones Negros 0
Antonio Naelson's stoppage-time penalty kick lifted Queretaro (1-1-0) over Leones Negros 1-0 Friday at Estadio La Corregidora.
The Gallos Blancos put U de G on their heels early, with Yasser Corona's header off the post in the sixth minute, but could not find a goal from the run of play. Felix Araujo's late foul on Angel Sepulveda sent Sinha to the spot, where he banked a shot off the post and into the net in the third minute of stoppage.
Leones Negros fall to 1-0-1 and three points.
Veracruz 3, Puebla 1
Julio Furch headed home two short-range goals as table-topping Veracruz routed Puebla 3-1 Friday at Estadio Luis Pirata Fuentes.
Jesus Paganoni put the Tiburones Rojos on the board with a left-footer from distance in the 21st minute. Furch's first tally, off Daniel Villalba's rebound in the 53rd minute, provided the margin of victory after Herculez Gomez connected for La Franja in the 78th. The insurance tally came in the second minute of stoppage time.
Veracruz are unbeaten at 2-0-0 (6 pts). Puebla fall to 1-0-1 (3).
Tijuana 1, America 0
Tijuana edged Club America 1-0 Friday at Estadio Caliente.
Dayro Moreno scored the game's only goal, blasting the ball into the net from the top of the penalty area in the 41st minute, after a sharp set-up pass from Gabriel Hauche. Oribe Peralta had a golden chance to put the Aguilas back into the game, but missed a penalty kick in the 50th.
The teams combined for 34 shots overall, but were far from accurate. Xolos put four on goal to the Aguilas' three, and both goalkeepers finished with three saves.
The result leaves both teams at 1-0-1 and three points.
Cruz Azul 1, Santos Laguna 0
Cruz Azul nipped Santos Laguna 1-0 Saturday at Estadio Azul, on a 53rd-minute goal by Alemao.
The Brazilian poked the ball into the net from just outside the six-yard box, after snagging the rebound of a shot by Joao Rojas.
Santos Laguna appeared to draw first blood in the 42nd minute, but an apparent goal by Andres Renteria was called back for offside. It was the closest they came even to a shot on goal.
La Maquina are third on the table at 2-0-0 (6), while the Guerreros have yet to record a point (0-0-2).
Monterrey 1, Pachuca 0
Substitute Edwin Cardona scored in the 87th minute, allowing Monterrey to snatch a 1-0 win over Pachuca Saturday at Estadio Tecnologico.
The Rayados (1-0-1) outshot Pachuca 16-5, and the score might have been more lopsided if not for a five-save performance from Tuzos goalkeeper Oscar Perez.
Pachuca (0-2-2) are at the bottom of the table.
Tigres 1, Leon 0
Jose Rivas scored in the 68th minute to lift Tigres (1-0-1, 3 pts) over Leon 1-0 Saturday at Estadio Nou Camp.
Neither team put a shot on goal during the first half, but the pace picked up considerably after the intermission. Rivas clinched the win with a header from just off the far post after a corner kick.
Leon fall to 0-0-2.
Atlas 2,Morelia 1
Atlas rallied past Morelia 2-1 Saturday at Estadio Tres de Marzo.
Mauro Cejas got Monarcas off to a solid start in the 38th minute, stealing the ball from Enrique Perez and charging into the area before blasting a shot past netminder Federico Vilar. Walter Kanneman knotted the score in the 67th, using his head to help along a shot from youngster Ponchito Gonzalez, and Martin Barragan won the game with a 17-yard blast in the 83rd.
The undefeated Zorros (0-0-2) are in second place. Morelia fall to 0-1-1 (1).
Toluca 3, Chiapas 0
Toluca (1-1-0, 4 pts) romped past Jaguares 3-0 Sunday at Estadio Nemesio Diez.
Ricardo Ortiz paced the winners with two goals in six minutes (74, 80), but Carlos Esquivel's 25-yard free kick in the 38th minute sealed the win. Esquivel also collected the assist on Ortiz's first goal, with a quick cross from the right wing.
Netminder Oscar Jimenez made six saves as Chiapas (1-0-1, 3 pts) were outshot 25-9.
Chivas 2, Pumas 1
Chivas de Guadalajara ran up a two-goal first-half lead, and held on to edge Pumas 2-1 Sunday at Estadio Omnilife.
Marco Fabian opened the Chivas scoring from 20 yards in the 18th minute, and Angel Reyna made the score 2-0 in the 41st, leaping to head home a right-side cross. Eduardo Herrera saved Pumas from being shut out with an 84th-minute penalty kick.
Chivas improve to 1-0-1 and three points. Pumas remain winless at 0-1-1 (1).
