Temple women toppled by Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Temple women’s team concluded the season with its 10th successive defeat, a 2-1 decision to Cincinnati in an American Athletic Conference match Sunday.

The Owls (3-16-0 overall, 0-9-0 conference) rallied from an early deficit, Gabriella McKeown scoring in the 70th minute, her team-leading fourth goal of the season. The Bearcats (11-5-3, 4-3-2) took the lead as Alex Stubblebine finished past sophomore Jordan Nash (nine saves) off a Bri Costigan cross in the third minute, then Vanessa Gilles headed in a Taylor Pavlika corner in the 10th minute.

"I'm extremely proud with how the ladies played today," Temple coach Seamus O'Connor said. "Cincinnati was playing their senior day today and had a lot on the line. They are a very good team.

"I think we need some girls to step up into leadership roles. I am incredibly proud of these young ladies this season. I'm embarrassed that we didn't represent the university better but I am not embarrassed of these young ladies."
