Nittany Lions add defensive midfielder

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lions men’s team has announced the commitment of midfielder Nick Rieple, the school announced this week.

“Nick is a winner, a leader and has a lot of upside still in his game,” PSU coach Bob Warming said. “Although he is a two-time All-America, I know he is hungry to continue to learn and grow as a player. I cannot wait to get started with him.”

“I am really excited to sign with Penn State because of the sense of family that I felt throughout the program,” Rieple said. “Penn State made me feel like I was home.”

Rieple (Mayfield, Ohio) was a four-year letterwinner at Lake Catholic High School, notching first team all-state, Cleveland Player of the Year and NSCAA All-American honors the last two years, and helping the team to a NCL championship, district championships and regional championship in his junior season and a district championship last year.

Rieple played for the Challenger Crew Juniors and the CSA Impact, winning two Region 2 championships, two MRL Premier 1 Championships and state cups the last two years. Last year, Rieple led the team to a USYS National Championship and the Disney Soccer Showcase, taking the Fair Play Award at the USYS National Championships.
