COLLEGE BOOT SPOTLIGHT: FRANNIE CROUSE
Meet the Candidates, and Vote!
Penn State junior forward Frannie Crouse is one of three nominees for the Philly Soccer News women’s college player of the year and the Soccer News Net Women’s College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.
Crouse scored a Big Ten Conference-leading 12 goals (five game-winners) in 21 games and was named first team all-conference and second team NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region, along with teammates Elizabeth Ball and Nickolette Driesse. Crouse was an All-Academic Big Ten Conference choice for the second successive season as the Nittany Lions won their 18th Big Ten title, tied for first place in the conference standings with Minnesota and Northwestern.
Crouse, who had two three-game scoring streaks, improved her career goal total to 33 in 72 games, 12th on the all-time PSU list.
The Nittany Lions (12-5-4), missing six players who were involved in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea, compiled a 12-game unbeaten streak but failed to defend their NCAA title as they were eliminated by Virginia in the second round.
Crouse was named the Philly Soccer News Player of the Week for the weeks ending Sept. 12 and Oct. 3.
Fan voting accounts for 40% of the total toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot, and the winner of the popular voting receives the Soccer News Net Supporters’ Choice award.
