Drexel Dragons drop Dukes in semifinals

BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The Drexel womenís team captured its first post-season victory, a 2-0 win over James Madison in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament at Parsons Field Friday.

The Dragons (9-6-4) will meet either Northeastern or William & Mary in the finals at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Drexel scored in the 30th minute as Kiera Hennessy sent in a deflected shot off a Kylie Strong corner kick, her first goal of the season. In the 43rd minute, Shaelyn McCarty converted a free kick from 24 yards into the upper right corner of the net.

The Dragons outshot the Dukes (9-11-0), 15-14, and Christiana Ogunsami totaled seven saves, five in the final eight minutes, in recording her 10th shutout of the season.
