VIRTUAL DEFEAT
Drexel Dragons can't keep up with Retrievers

The Drexel menís team lost its 10th successive match, dropping a 2-1 decision to UMBC in a non-conference match Tuesday night.

The Dragons (1-12-2) honored seniors Tyler Afflerbach, Aymen Ben Hadj Slama Jameson Detweiler and Aaron Thompson, who started together for the first time this season, in a pre-game ceremony.

UMBC (5-7-3) took the lead as Christian Morales scored off the rebound of his own shot in the 25th minute. Xavier Bou Hernandez tied the score with his first goal of the season off a deflected goal kick from Afflerbach in the 32nd minute, snapping the Dragonsí two-game scoreless streak. The Retrievers broke the deadlock as Jordan Dove headed in off a Cormac Noel assist on an 85th-minute corner kick.

The match was live streamed in virtual reality as part of a public launch at the Franklin Institute to showcase cutting-edge technology, along with the performance of a brain surgery and a tour of a space shuttle.
